SOTHI || YELLOW MOONG DHAL CURRY


Ingredients
Yellow moong dal  - 1/2 cup
Red onion  - 5 no.s
Garlic - 5 pods
Potato - 1 medium sized, cut into small pieces
Drumsticks - 5 pieces
Green chilies - 4 slitted
Tomato - 1/2 portion
Salt - To taste
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Water to pressure cook
Coconut milk - mix 2 tbsp coconut milk powder in 1 cup water
Lemon juice -  3-4 drops
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - pinch
Urad dhal - pinch
Curry leaves - a few


Method
Pressure cook moong dal, onion, garlic, potato, drumsticks, green chilies, salt, turmeric and water (just to cover the ingredients in the cooker) for about 5-7 whistles in medium high heat and then off the stove. After pressure cooking, moong dal should be completely mash-able. Open the lid and keep the pressure pan in medium low flame. Now add tomato pieces and let it boil. Once boiled, saute the curry and then add coconut milk. Now heat the curry for maximum 3- 4 minutes and switch off the heat. Add a few drops of lemon juice and serve hot with idiappams.
