SIMPLE TOMATO CHUTNEY


Simply followed my DF Manju's recipe for this chutney.

Ingredients
Tomato - 2 medium roughly chopped (remove seeds)
Onion - 1 medium roughly chopped
Garlic - 2 cloves
Dry Red Chilly - 4
Asafoetida -  a pinch
Tamarind paste - less than 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp


Method
Heat oil in a pan in medium flame. Add red chilies, onion, garlic, asafoetida, and saute till onion turn transparent. Add the tomato pieces, salt and saute till it become soft. Off the stove and allow it to cool. Grind this to a smooth paste in a mixer along with tamarind paste. Do not add water. Pour the chutney in a serving bowl. Heat 1/2 tsp oil in a pan, crackle mustard seeds and pour it over chutney. Serve with dosa or idli.
