BREAKFAST AT BALADNA FARM RESTAURANT, QATAR

The Baladna farm visit was in my bucket list an year back and then somehow forgot to plan a visit. A couple of days back, suddenly remembered this place and decided to make a visit with family in the weekend.

Today, a Friday morning, visited the Baladna poultry and live-stock farm located in Umm Al Hawaya Area, Al Khor & Al Thakira around 50 kilometers north of Doha along with family. We started our travel from Doha by 8am and reached our destination around 9am. We could even reach in 40-45 minutes, but we drove slowly so kids could really enjoy the travel.

Google maps helped us to find our way. From Doha, take Express Highway heading to Shamal and take Exit 44. After a kilometer drive, the farm will be on your right side. We should take a private road for ~300 meters to reach the farm.

Fresh milk, meat and other dairy products PRODUCED IN QATAR were available for sale in the farm shop. They also sell bottled pickles, spices, condiments, and other products imported from Syria.

The farm shop restaurant serves authentic Syrian and Arabic breakfast. We tried their Fried Eggs, Manaqeech Muhamara, Safiha with Cheese, french fries, and should say that their Saffron flavored Karak tea was very tasty.

They serve a breakfast platter as well, but we decided to go with A' la Carte. Wanted to try their fried Halloumi cheese sticks as a friend suggested it is yummy, but they didn't have it that day.

Syrian desserts like Osmaliya Qushta and Maghshousha were available. I wanted to try their Kunafa, but it was not ready early in the morning.

After our Breakfast in the cozy farm shop, we visited their small zoo. The weather was not that favorable and so we made a quick visit. On the way to the zoo, we could catch sight of some ducks in the pond. We saw rabbits, lama, guinea, hen, goose, pony, oryx, and horses. There is a kids play area near the zoo, but we didn't use it this time.

Kids enjoyed a pony ride and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Bought fresh milk and Arabic Yogurt. It was tasty, but felt it is little expensive. The yogurt costed 15 QR and also a liter of full fat milk costed 15 QR.

We do intend to visit the farm again in winter to enjoy their out-door places well and more.
