COCONUT CHUTNEY


Kerala is known as the land of coconuts. I love to eat coconut maybe because I am bought up in its own land. Coconut Chutney is a very normal side dish for dosa in every house in Kerala. Prepare the chutney little bit spicy and then it goes well with Dosa/Idly.

Ingredients
Coconut - 1 cup grated
Green chilly - 4 nos
Shallots - 4 nos
Ginger paste - 1/4 tsp
Garlic paste - 1/4 tsp
Tamarind paste - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 flake
Salt - 1 tsp
Water
Oil, mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves, 1 red chilly to saute.


Method
Take a mixer can and put all the ingredients except saute items into it, sprinkle water and grind for 2-3 times. Take a cooking pan, add oil. After oil is hot, add mustard seeds, let it splutter. Add urad dhal, curry leaves and red chilly pieces one after another, mix well for 5-10 seconds. Pour-in the grinded mixture and mix well. Let the mixture boil once, then off the stove, mix well and serve hot with Dosa.
NOTE: Add red chilies instead of green chilies to get red coconut chutney.
