AT A STADIUM FOR THE FIRST TIME


GAME ON! The motto of AFC Asian cup 2011 Qatar....

The spirit of soccer is wide spread in Qatar now with hoardings everywhere. India is participating in the series after a break of 25 years as per Qatar's special request considering the big Indian expat crowd living in Doha.


Me and Pradi decided to watch an Indian match live at stadium and so grabbed 2 tickets for 14th Jan 2011 India vs Bahrain match. We were so excited to watch a soccer match live in the stadium and a little bit scared about Ashmi, how she will be reacting. Nowadays she hate to be in the hand and always want to walk or run. But our soccer spirit made us think that she will be ok in the stadium.

Finally the day has come and we reached the Al Sadd stadium nearly 2 hours before the start time to get a safe parking slot. Some of my colleagues were also coming to watch the match and so we all met together infront of the stadium and after our usual photo session, proceeded inside. The feel was great and everyone is having Indian flag with them, we too have 2 small flags with us for the little cheerer.

We entered the stadium and match commenced by sharp 7.15pm. We sung our National Anthem after 10 years that too in another country. OMG, i felt so happy. We were able to make 2 goals and allowed the Bahrainis to make 5. So we lost the match. :( It is not a new story for Indian soccer team and they have to work too hard to position themselves in a better form in soccer team row.

To our surprise, Ashmi didn't even sleep for a minute and was full time cheering the teams without any partiality by chapping or waving Indian flag.


Really we three had a nice time watching the match even though India lost the match we felt happy that we saw a good performance by Indian team with 2 goals. Indians played with Australians 2 days back and didn't scored a goal and allowed them to make 4. So this time it is better and they are showing an improvement in their performance even though they are coming from a soccer  infrastructure-less India.


Chak De India...hope Indian team will show better performance in the coming years and hope to watch more matches live in the stadium.

    yes manju, ashmi enjoyed to the core, back side of us were some Bahrain supports, when that guys were cheering up for their team, ashmi also supported them by clapping ,

    she enjoyed the game with real sportswomen sprit....hihihi..
