RED ONION CURRY
The recipe is from my MIL's kitchen and DH likes it a lot.
Ingredients
Red onion - 15 nos medium-sized, chopped length-wise
Tamarind paste - 1 tsp
Red chilly powder - 3/4 tsp
Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/5 tsp
Urid dhal - 1/5 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 flake
Salt to taste
Water - 1 cup
Method
Heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard seeds. Add urad dhal, curry leaves and chopped onions. Mix till onion becomes golden brown. Now make the stove in low-flame and add tamarind paste, chilly powder, salt and water. Mix well and cook till the mixtures becomes thick. Finally, add asafoetida powder, mix well and serve with dosa/idli.
