BOILED TAPIOCA || KAPPA PUZHUNGIYATHU


Boiled Tapioca (Kappa Puyungiyathu) is a special dish of Kerala and the best side dish for kappa is Varutharacha fish curry.

Ingredients
To cook kappa:
Kappa - 1 frozen packet (cubed)
Coconut oil - 1tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Water
Salt to taste
Masala ingredients:
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilly - 8 no.s
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Grated Coconut - 2 tbsp



Method
Boil the cubed kappa with water to cover it for 5 minutes in a heavy bottomed pan/pressure cooker without lid. Now filter the water out of kappa and keep it aside. Grind the masala ingredients roughly. Heat coconut oil in a pressure cooker/ in a heavy bottomed pa. Add kappa pieces, turmeric powder, salt, water to cover the kappa. Boil in medium flame with cooker lid upside down. Stir in between until kappa is cooked well. Once kappa is cooked, add the grinded masala and mix well. Saute the kappa with coconut oil, mustard seeds, urid dhal, curry leaves and 1 broken red chilly. Now the kappa is ready to be served along with Spicy Fish Curry.
