VARUTHARACHA FISH CURRY


Ingredients
Cubed fish pieces - 10  pieces of king fish
SET A: 
Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
Garlic - 2 pods
Red onions (shallots) - 15 no.s
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
SET B:
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
Venthayam - 1/4 tsp
Black pepper - 1 tsp
SET C:
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
SET D:
Tamarind paste - 3/4 tsp
Water - 2.5 cups
Salt to taste
Drumstick - 1 no
Green Chilly - 1 no
Curry Leaves
SET E:
Coconut oil, mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves to saute.



Method
Heat a pan, add coconut oil and SET A items and stir for sometime. Once the items turn to light brown, add SET B items and stir well. Then add SET C and stir and off the flame immediately. Let the mixture to cool for sometime and then grind it until it becomes smooth. Heat a heavy bottomed pan and add the grinded masala, SET D ingredients in to it. Let it boil in medium-high flame until the water reduces to half of the initial quantity. Add the cleaned and cubed fish pieces. Boil in low flame for 10-15 minutes until the fish is cooked. Saute the curry with SET E ingredients and serve hot with Rice or Kappa puyungiyathu.
